Title Mobile CASIC Systems and the Survey Process
Year 1999
Access date 17.08.2005
Abstract New information technologies are reshaping systems design for computer assisted survey information collection (CASIC) and the role of CASIC in the survey process. These developments are having the greatest impact on survey settings for which at least one component is locally or globally distributed, requiring mobility or widespread access to survey tools. In this paper, we present examples of mobile CASIC and describe how various components of the survey process have been modified in response to new computing capabilities for mobile and distributed survey settings. The impact of future information technologies is discussed.
